TW: Very brief rape scenes (spied through a window) and mention of rape.
This has some great world building, as all of Fielding's stories do. Three kingdoms hinge on war and the prince is abducted on his way to negotiate peace. This is AU - clearly set in Olden Times but with open-minded societies that don't care about anyone's sexuality. I didn't really buy that Volos was secretly in love with Prince Berhanu, who never has anything but contempt for him, or so it appears, but their relationship is handled well once they're talking to each other and we find out more about Berhanu.
